The Palace of the Republic is one of the main and largest concert halls in Kazakhstan. It is a significant landmark of Almaty. The palace was built in 1970. The construction project has become original in its architectural and artistic design. The spacious hall of the building was used for various events of urban and republican significance: party plenums, solemn honoring of heroes of labor, meetings of trade unions and public organisations. At the same time, the Palace of the Republic has been a popular stage venue for almost fifty years.

Since March 21, 2008, the status of the Palace of the Republic of Almaty officially reads as follows: «Monument of History, culture, urban planning and architecture of republican significance». Today, the auditorium of the Palace accommodates 2,567 spectators and hosts both local artists and world-class stars. Scientific conferences and festivals are also held here. Trainings, congresses and other events are held in the small hall. In addition, the square in front of the Palace is used for mass concert shows and cultural events at any time of the year, turning it into one of the main and most beautiful squares of the city.
