A sports event known throughout Central Asia, the Almaty Marathon, will be held this year on September 26. The year 2021 is unusual not only because mass events are re-entering our lives after the year of the pandemic, but also because the Almaty Marathon turns ten years old this year.

The tenth anniversary marathon will be held on Republic Square, and the route will pass through the city center. The following distances are provided in the competition: 10 km, 21.1 km, 42.2 km, Ekiden team relay, 10 km Nordic walking.

Timing of starts:

  • 42 km – start time 7:30
  • Ekiden team relay – 7:30
  • 21 km – 7:40
  • 10 km – 7:55
  • nordic walking 10 km – 8:10

Participants from 18 years and older are allowed to participate in the race at distances of 21 km and 42 km. Participants over 15 years of age are allowed to participate in the 10 km and 10 km Nordic walking. Amateur runners from 16 years old can take part in the Ekiden team relay, each team has 6 people.

Each participant who successfully completes the distance will receive a finisher’s medal. The participants and the winning teams will receive medals, cups, diplomas and valuable prizes from the marathon partners. The winners in the distances of 42.2 km and 21.1 km will receive cash prizes.

Paying for participation, each runner not only runs the distance, but also helps to realize the charitable goals of the Almaty Marathon.
