On May 7, the VISITALMATY 2019 conference was held in Kuala Lumpur. The purpose of this event was to increase the awareness of the city of Almaty and promote the brand among tourist destinations for residents of Southeast Asia. More than 70 Malaysian travel companies took part in the conference, business meetings were held with representatives of Kazakhstani tour operators.
The speakers were Birzhan Dulatbekov – Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia, Balachandran Chinna Swam – Regional General Manager of Air Astana in Malaysia, Datuk Nargiz Safarova – Ambassador of Malaysia for Tourism in Russia and CIS countries.
Representatives of the Almaty City Tourism Department and Kazakhstani companies presented popular destinations and unique tours to Almaty. The wide interest of the public was aroused by ski resorts, nature and nomadic culture. Also, a similar conference was held on May 9 in Jakarta, which was attended by more than 40 Indonesian travel companies. The conference was attended by the Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Indonesia Kairat Malayev and the President of the Association of Tour Operators of Indonesia Dr. N Rusmiati.
