One of the main cultural brands of Almaty and a particularly anticipated phenomenon is the annual festival of modern ethnic music with the poetic and sacred name for nomads The Spirit of Tengri.
The Spirit of Tengri is already a big out-of-country, international event and a truly interesting show not only for avid music lovers who are well acquainted with the “materiel”, but also for those who are open and love to discover new sounds, harmonies, as well as the culture of different countries and continents. Therefore, The Spirit of Tengri site can be safely called a place of meetings, acquaintances and great cultural discoveries.
Without exaggeration, this is an amazing open-air concert (Tengri!) in the heart of Almaty with stars and well-known and lesser-known ethno-world artists. Let’s just say that hundreds of performers from 90 nations have graced The Spirit of Tengri stage over the years.
The Spirit of Tengri’s narrative starts in 2013. Zhan Kasteyev, a popular figure, singer and producer from Almaty is the one who came up with the festival’s concept.
This year, Abay Square in front of the Palace of the Republic in Almaty will serve as the festival’s customary outdoor location on June 8–9. The festival is free to enter.
Excellent live sound and drive, an amazing laser and light show, and, as always, The Spirit of Tengri’s unique, pleasant summer atmosphere are all promised by the organisers.
