The growing interest in the personality of Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich was one of the reasons that in the year of his 100th birthday, in January 2012 was opened a Memorial house-museum in the house where he lived. Here visitors can get acquainted with the life and everyday life of this great man from the other side. Numerous souvenirs and various valuable gifts testify to the cities and countries he visited, and, of course, tell about the people with whom he met, worked and was friends. In the apartment, D.A. Kunaev lived from 1969 until his death in 1993. The value of the museum lies in the completeness and authenticity of the interior of the house where he lived. The exhibited items give an idea of what a simple and modest man Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich was, what he did, how he rested, what he was fond of. The memorial house-museum is located in an apartment building, where his neighbours in different periods were famous people in the country, including Asanbay Askarov, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Sultan Dzhienbayev, Nikolay Lyashenko and others. The apartment consists of a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a personal office of D.A. Kunaev.
It is a curious fact that among the music records in Kunaev’s apartment you can find an album by Vladimir Vysotsky, Michael Jackson, the Beatles and other contemporary artists. The number of books of the Koran, sacred to Muslims, is also striking. The Koran in various editions was often purchased by Kunaeva Zukhra Sharipovna (D.A. Kunaev’s wife), and he also brought the Koran from foreign business trips to Muslim countries. The visitor can see and get acquainted with numerous souvenirs and other valuable gifts that were presented to D.A.Kunaev by residents and workers of Kazakhstan, and outstanding figures of politics, culture, science from various corners of the earth.
