The 108-hectare garden is located at an altitude of 900 m above sea level. The main directions are the development of scientific foundations for the conservation, reproduction and use of the flora of Kazakhstan, the formation and preservation of collections of living plants of natural and cultural domestic and world flora. The first Rock Garden in Central Asia was created on the territory of the Botanical Garden. There is also a greenhouse complex with tropical plants.
This is a great place for hiking and cycling, where you can meet squirrels at any time. The excursion department organizes interesting walking tours of the garden’s exposition, located according to the botanical and geographical principle (flora of Kazakhstan, Russia, Crimea, the Caucasus and North America). In 2006, the Botanical Garden was included in the list of “Specially protected natural territories of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
