The cinema and concert complex in the southern capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, is the first major cultural object in the Alatau district of the city. Construction of the concert complex began in 2014 in preparation for the 28th Winter Universiade near the Universiade Village and Almaty Arena. The multifunctional Theatre building is the first newly erected cultural object built in the metropolis in the last 35 years. On August 20, 2016, as part of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Almaty, the theatre was opened.

As part of the event, a concert was held with the participation of the best representatives of traditional musical art. The main activity of the theatre is the popularization of Kazakh folk art. For these purposes, preferences are provided for concerts of zhyrshy and zhyrau, has been created a course on the preservation of national traditions of song mastery. The theatre hosts premieres of Kazakh feature films and documentaries, concerts of national music.
