Lie to me about the price, but not about the product.
The magic of an Eastern bazaar
Green Bazaar (Almaty) is considered to be one of the main attractions of the southern capital of Kazakhstan. It’s always noisy and crowded there; people rush here any day of the week to buy fresh products and manufactured goods, from clothing and footwear to furniture and building materials. The central market, which has more than a century of history, is also popular with tourists. Here you can buy original souvenirs and taste national dishes.
- The noisy bustle reigning between the isles resembles the atmosphere of fabulous eastern bazaars in many ways. Counters are full of fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy and meat products at any time of the year. Here you can taste real Kazakh koumiss and beshbarmak, treat yourself to Uzbek plov, Tatar belyashes, Caucasian shashlyk and shawarma. There are pavilions at the Green Market, where Koreans sell their national cuisine. Spicy cabbage, carrot and radish salads are very popular with customers. Endless rows with crispy nuts, fragrant dried apricots, prunes and other dried fruits attract people of any gender and age.
