The monument Tauelsizdik tany, symbolizing the freedom, sovereignty and independence of the people of Kazakhstan

The monument Tauelsizdik tany, symbolizing the freedom, sovereignty and independence of the people of Kazakhstan, was erected in 2006 on the day of the twentieth anniversary of the tragic December events of 1986, which served as a powerful impetus to gaining the internal voice and independence of the people of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Monument dedicated to the participants of the December events of the end of the twentieth century, Tauelsizdik tany is located at the intersection of Satpayev and Zheltoksan. The architect did not choose the place of construction of the monument by chance, since “zheltoksan” means “December” in translation from Kazakh.

It consists of three parts and focuses primarily on two pylons of complex shape, symbolizing the gap, the conflict of the past and the future, the explosion of self-awareness of the people and the fall of ideological canons, the triumph of freedom and independence of the state. To give greater expressiveness to the composition included a sculpture of a woman in the dynamics of a rush, takeoff. In her right hand, she holds a removed handkerchief – a call for reconciliation, in her left hand – a fluttering symbolic bird, also a symbol of freedom, a harbinger of spring and positive changes, independence and new life.

In the history of Kazakhstan, there were not so many dramatic and high minutes, hours and days. The three days and three nights of December 1986 were exactly in this new national history. After these events, the formation of Kazakhstan as an independent republic began. The monument was built according to the project of the Kazakh architect and designer Timur Suleimenov and symbolizes the freedom and independence of the people of Kazakhstan. “Tauelsizdik Tany” continues to remind Kazakhstanis and guests of the country about the importance of the sovereignty of the state and the sacrifices made to achieve freedom. The monument “Tauelsizdik Tany” is included in the list of “sacred geography of Kazakhstan”within the framework of the program “Ruhani zhangyru”.
