Personal exhibition of creative duet Berkin & Mika «Trivial Freedom» Personal exhibition of creative duet Berkin & Mika «Trivial Freedom»
The exposition, located on the territory of Esentai Gallery, includes 13 photographs and installations of young photographers from London, creating under the nickname Berkin & Mika. Each photo is a criticism of different aspects of consumerism. All the works are shot on a large-format film camera. Guys firmly believe that the real artist controls the process of creating a photo himself - from beginning to end (even shows and scans the film). The creation of this series of artists was inspired by the book of Edward Burns, also known as the father of marketing, about the power of psychoanalysis and the use of military advocacy techniques in advertising.

Edward Bernays is the nephew of Sigmund Freud, he used the works of his uncle to invent modern marketing and advertising. This book inspired Bakhtiar and Miku to create a series that would be a satire for the era of mass consumption. To create these works the style of pop art best suited, because nothing so closely intertwines with products of mass consumption, like this style in art. The authors really like the aesthetics of bright colors, the symmetry and the use of trivial everyday objects, which in everyday life are very far from art. To see the beautiful in the ugly and inspiration in everyday objects is their philosophy.

The work of the exhibition will last until October 13, 2018

The project «Open archive. Almaty»

This part of the project, curated by the architects Ekaterina Golovatyuk and Giacomo Cantoni, was based on the study of architecture historians Anna Bronovitskaya and Nikolay Malinin, which lasted more than two years, in cooperation with the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, photographer Yuri Palmin and the Almaty Architectural Community.
