Republican Museum of Folk Musical Instruments named after Yklas
Republican Museum of folk instruments was opened in 1980. The museum is named after the great kuishi Yklas, playing on kobyz. The museum houses former Officers’ houses, built in 1908. Sculpture of the national musical instrument Narkobyz was installed in front of the museum.
The museum contains over 1000 exhibits, gathered more than 60 kinds, types and varieties of Kazakh folk musical instruments, used by the outstanding singers-improvisers, poets and composers Abay, Birzhan, Zhambyl, Yklas, Seytek, Dina, Kyzyl Zhyrau, A. Zhubanov, K.Azerbaev, A. Khasenov, M.Erzhanov and others.
