Museum of archeology

The basis of the museum, opened in 1973, served as material accumulated over the last fifty years of work of archeological expeditions. The museum exposition is deployed in two halls. In the first two sections are presented — the Stone Age, the Bronze Age. In the second room — the early Iron Age, the Middle Ages.

In Kazakhstan people appeared about a million years ago, as evidenced by numerous finds of Paleolithic tools found on the northern and southern slopes of the Greater and Lesser Karatau ridge. High level of civilization reached Kazakhstan in the Bronze Age — settlements, burial grounds, ore development, cave paintings are found everywhere in the country. Better than the others studied the monuments of Central Kazakhstan: Atasu settlement and Myrzhyk, burial Aksu Ayuly, Begazy, Dandybay. Of particular interest are the rock carvings Semirechye, Central and Eastern Kazakhstan.
In the first half of I millennium BC. e. the ancient population of Kazakhstan, there was a shift to a nomadic cattle breeding, there were tribal unions and the first state. At Saks, who lived in East Kazakhstan, Seven Rivers, in the Aral Sea appeared writing. About Saks known from the Chinese, ancient Persian (inscription of Naqsh-i Ristema, Susa et al.) The centerpiece of the museum occupies the «Golden Warrior» from Issyk barrow, which has become a unique discovery Kazakh archaeologists. Kurgan Issyk gave scientists a rare opportunity to study the Kazakh original history of our ancestors — Saks, who lived in the V-IV centuries BC. e. Restorers was reconstructed garments and made a copy of the ancient costume. Samples of the well-known «animal style» vividly shown in a suit warrior from Issyk barrow.
