The lake is located in Ozernoye gorge of Big Almaty gorge at an altitude of 2506 m. above the sea level. This ancient lake was formed by the collapse of the grand slopes of Big Almaty peak. It is characterized by an amazing game of water color, during the day it changes from the azure and turquoise to deep ultramarine. The majestic peaks rise above the lake: in the west – Big Almaty Peak, in the south – the peak of Ozernyi and the south-east – snowy peak of the pyramid named after Kanysh Satpayev (formerly Soviets peak) is visible. An asphalt road leads to the lake. You can reach it, starting from the Park of the First President of Kazakhstan on Dulati avenue towards the mountains.
